Please note: I will be out on maternity leave from April 11, 2025 - August 31, 2025. I will not be checking emails regularly during that time but I look forward to speaking when I get back!
Services
At Brooklyn Behavioral Therapy, we are committed to providing evidence-based treatment - treatment that works. Here are some of the kinds of therapy we offer.
We also provide sliding scale supervision to new DBT clinicians. Read more about this here.
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) was developed to help people struggling with extremely volatile and intense emotions, challenging interpersonal relationships, suicidal thoughts, and impulsive behavior. DBT treatment for clients consists of individual therapy, skills training, and phone coaching aimed at better understanding emotions and behaviors that are causing problems in people's lives and providing tools to better manage them.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps you identify patterns in thinking and behavior that are causing problems in your life and figure out how to change things in order to have a different outcome. This involves identifying thoughts, emotions, and beliefs you might hold about the world and providing concrete tools to manage them.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a kind of cognitive behavioral therapy that helps clients reduce emotional distress through observing thoughts and emotions and taking values-based action. It is extremely effective for anxiety, depression, and many other disorders.
Couples' Therapy
We provide couples therapy using DBT for Couples and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). Both of these modalities are focused on more effective communication with your partner, decreasing problematic behavior, rebuilding intimacy, and understanding and managing difficult emotions when they come up.
Trauma Treatment
We provide evidence-based treatments for PTSD including DBT-Prolonged Exposure (DBT-PE) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). Both of these modalities aim to reduce the distress caused by traumatic experiences and the effect traumatic experiences have on our lives.
Exposure and Response Prevention
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is the gold standard treatment for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. It uses exposure techniques to reduce the distress caused by intrusive thoughts and the time and energy taken up by rituals.
